Howdy everybody, just a quick note to say check out my good friend Paul Atkins’ new endevour, A Song In A Day
The basic idea is that if you have some lyrics, but no melody/chords/band then Paul can help you out.
He’ll take your lyrics, listen to your suggestions and then create you a fully produced masterpiece. Genius!
Paul is an all round musical master being that he can play almost any instrument and also producer, engineer and mix as well. Yeah, one of those kind of guys!
Anyway check it out and if yours is a rock style tune, you never know, but you may find me in the studio with you.
Till next time, watch the skies!
Had a gig with the mighty Goodtimes Goodtimes on Friday last week in the town of Witney, Oxfordshire at a fantastic venue called Fat Lil’s
We’d fought our way through the Friday night traffic leaving London and eventually arrived at the venue a little after we should have done (apologies to the promoter, but the traffic really WAS awful!) and setup as quickly as we could.
After soundcheck we settled into the night waiting for our headline slot, thoroughly enjoying the music of Good Things Happen In Bad Towns
It was whilst chatting to the band outside that we first noticed the poster:
Shit! We thought, that is some tough billing to live up to. (For those who can’t read the grainy photo the caption reads “Make sure if there’s one gig you catch this year, it’s this one. He’s the new Bruce Springsteen”
So going on slightly after 10:30 we proceeded to play 90 minutes of sheer, unadulterated rock ‘n’ roll including a gigging first:
We had finished playing new song “Never Going Back” the chorus of which goes…”Never going back x a million” and the crowd were into it so much that they started singing it back at us. Amazed, we all grinned at each other and thought, what they hell, let’s play the end chorus again, and again, and again.
We finished the night all a little worse for wear, but safe in the knowledge that we would return to Fat Lils soon!
Till next time…
Ivor
